1999 Collective

1999 Collective is a Utah-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering foster care alumni and allies, established in 2023. Rooted in the legacy of the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999, we provide critical resources, community support, and advocacy to help young adults successfully transition to independent and healthy adulthoods beyond the foster care system. We champion a model where lived experience drives decision-making, ensuring our services are directly shaped by those who understand the challenges firsthand.

Our work extends beyond immediate needs, focusing on systemic change and collaborative partnerships to improve outcomes for Utah’s foster care alumni. With a dedicated team of 6 and a proven track record of supporting over 450 youths, 1999 Collective is committed to creating a brighter future for Utah’s foster youth, saving an estimated $10.5M+ in state costs annually and delivering 3,500+ meals through our delivery program. We are a community built by foster care alumni, for foster care alumni, and we invite you to join us in rewriting the story of what’s possible.
