The Standard Steam Locomotive Company is a UK-based charity dedicated to preserving the legacy of British steam by meticulously rebuilding the lost BR Standard Class 6 Locomotive, 72010 Hengist. Located in Sheffield, England, we combine 21st-century engineering with historical precision, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques to create a greener, more powerful, and efficient locomotive suitable for both heritage and mainline railways. As a registered charity (1062 320), we’re committed to using British-made components wherever possible, showcasing the enduring strength of UK engineering. With a fundraising target of £5.5 million, we rely on the support of individuals and organizations to bring this iconic locomotive back to life, offering donors unique opportunities to be involved in this remarkable project, including open days and the chance to ride the finished train.
