Aegean Cargo Sailing

Aegean Cargo Sailing’s activities include climate neutral and sustainable transportation of traditional Aegean products by sailboat as well as hosting alternative eco-friendly sailing tours in the Aegean. Aegean Cargo Sailing transport services, is a project focusing on solely wind-powered sailing cargo transport of Aegean traditional local and sustainable products and their promotion to Greek and European markets. To our knowledge Aegean Cargo Sailing is the only wind sailing cargo operation in the Mediterranean. The products of the Aegean Cargo Sailing network have the special label "Transported by Sails and Wind", which contributes to the creation of a new brand of products that are produced, processed and transported in traditional and ecological ways. As of 2020, visitors are able to join us as crew members (paying crew) and enjoy a unique sailing experience, while at the same time getting to know the products and the cultural /natural wealth of the Aegean. In cooperation with the local communities, we organize interesting leisure, environmental, gastronomic and cultural activities for the international crews in the destinations of each sailing round. Our mission is to establish ecological maritime transport without fossil fuels on a real scale and on a permanent basis, thus joining the global efforts for climate neutrality and the use of alternative sources of energy, which are now more critical than ever. Aegean Cargo Sailing is the Greek brainchild of Sailmed and since July 2019 it is managed by the social cooperative enterprise Aegean Sails.
