Alabama Symphony Orchestra

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra is Alabama’s premier professional orchestra, providing world-class musical experiences to audiences across the state for over a century. Rooted in Birmingham, Alabama, and founded in 1921, the ASO is one of only 25 states in the U.S. with a full-time professional orchestra. Our 54 talented musicians, who have earned their positions through rigorous auditions and advanced training, bring to life a diverse repertoire of classical and popular music. We are deeply committed to community engagement, offering over 7 free concerts annually in diverse locations throughout Alabama, reaching over 44 counties. The ASO’s mission is to enrich the cultural landscape of Alabama, fostering a lifelong appreciation for music and serving as a vital part of the state’s heritage.
