Generations of craftsmanship Alexander Christian is a family-run business. Managing Director Christian Elwell began his apprenticeship at an early age, continuing the family heritage and tradition of cabinetmaking, furniture restoration and French polishing. These skills date back to 18th century in the cotton mill industry in West Yorkshire and have been passed down to him through the generations, his father having been a cabinetmaker and his great grandfather a French polisher and cabinetmaker. With his reservoir of knowledge and expertise in such highly skilled and technical areas, he provides valid, pertinent and impartial advice on a wide range of furniture issues. From cabinet-making to furniture repairs to independent inspections We provide a comprehensive and in-depth range of services to a broad client base including manufacturers, retailers, warranty and insurance companies, independents and the private sector. Our services include cabinetmaking and kitchen design and installation. We offer clients consultancy and training services to facilitate the development of new strategies and methods for furniture restoration. We also conduct design, electrical, upholstery, fabric and leather fault assessment and repair services throughout all stages of the furniture production process from design to manufacture. Our independent expert opinions can be commissioned by retailers and consumers in resolving complaints, acting as an independent mediator. We have compiled over 25,000 reports and have earned the reputation of being the UK’s leading assessors and repairers.
