Overview
We are the Geo-Challenge design team at The University of Akron, led by students typically in the study of civil engineering. We compete at Geo-Congress through ASCE. We currently have members involved on our GeoWall team. Their objective is to design and build a model mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall using paper reinforcements taped to a poster board wall facing. The goal in the competition is to use the least amount reinforcement to support the retained soil and design loads. For the first time this year we have members entering the GeoVideo Challenge. The objective is to develop short videos explaining various engineering concepts that could be used in classrooms at various levels. The Geo-Challenge team also has opportunities to be involved with GeoPrediction, GeoPoster, and GeoShirt.
