Bay Area Prabasi is a cornerstone of the Bengali community in the San Francisco Bay Area, dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal. Established in 1974, this non-profit organization serves as a vital hub for arts, literature, and social activities, fostering a strong sense of belonging for Bengalis across the region. We provide a platform for celebrating quintessential Bengali traditions, including Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja, while also actively supporting charitable initiatives like Project Breathe, which delivers critical medical equipment to West Bengal during health crises, and the Abhaya Sayambharataa program, focused on supporting education for students in rural Bengal. Bay Area Prabasi’s commitment extends to supporting Bengali artisans through the Sharbari Datta Studio, ensuring the continuation of traditional crafts. With a dedicated membership base and a strong leadership team, we continue to build a vibrant and impactful community, embodying the spirit of Bengal in the heart of California.
