Overview
The research group of the BE Lab of the University of Naples Federico II develops research and innovation activities aimed at technological transfer and the enhancement of knowledge to guarantee the conservation of built and cultural heritage, the development of the territory and support for the Public Administration and to Territorial Protection Authotities.
Research lines:
- non-invasive diagnostics, for monitoring the thermo-hygrometric conditions of the built environment, to determine the effects on user comfort and on building components, using thermal imaging cameras, humidity, temperature and CO2 sensors
- preservation assessment of the performance of materials in a controlled environment, by measuring the variation of the thermal and electrical parameters of the materials and building components in different operating conditions
- building risk assessment, for the assessment of the vulnerability of the technical elements of the building envelope and the danger induced by the same on urban and metropolitan environments in multi-risk scenarios
- emergency simulation and management, for verifying the spaces and routes of strategic buildings in crisis conditions, using agent-based crowd simulation models
- application of circular economy and environmental sustainability to the construction sector, for the performance analysis of innovative materials and products and for the verification and energy efficiency of building systems with innovative solutions with low environmental impact
Main equipment:
– dry corrosion test chamber
– climatic chamber
– rain simulation test chamber
