Black Girls Mental Health Foundation is a California-based nonprofit dedicated to improving postpartum mental health for Black women and birthing individuals.
We address systemic barriers to care by connecting families to Black providers, including therapists, doulas, and wellness experts, through our BIRTH Network. We also integrate wearable technology for comprehensive care.
Our approach centers on culturally responsive maternal mental health, driving systemic change and expanding access to care for Black and Brown birthing people across California and Georgia. We fund therapy for low-income mothers, provide scholarships for perinatal mental health training, and conduct research to inform better policy and care—both locally and virtually.
Since 2024, we’ve served 127 families, provided 660 hours of therapy (40% at reduced cost), and launched a Clinical Birth Worker Internship Program to train the next generation of culturally competent providers. We are committed to creating a future where Black mothers feel safe, heard, and supported.
