Border Region Behavioral Health Center

Border Region Behavioral Health Center is a non-profit, tax-exempt contract agency of the state of Texas, providing comprehensive mental health and mental retardation services to the citizens of Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, and Starr Counties.

Established in 1979 as the Laredo State Center, Border Region has a long history of serving vulnerable populations, initially as a Rio Grande State Center outreach clinic and later evolving into a community-based center.

Today, Border Region Behavioral Health Center employs 360 people and serves 9313 clients, operating under the designation of a Local Mental Health Authority and a Mental Retardation Authority. We prioritize providing accessible and culturally sensitive care, focusing on individuals at risk of hospitalization or state school placement, and promoting community integration.

Our services encompass a wide range of supports, including crisis stabilization, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) services, substance use disorder treatment, and first episode psychosis support. We are dedicated to improving the lives of our clients and their families through evidence-based practices and a commitment to person-centered care.
