Circuteria

Our vision is to facilitate a society that is regenerative by design, using natural materials at their highest value to enable a truly circular economy. To this end, we are developing a digital platform that connects all stakeholders of a circular economy to reuse, recycle and compost products made from renewable biomass. Over the last century, we have been polluting our planet and health with more and more plastics. This is because most plastics are made from fossils (oil and gas), and thus do not degrade as well as biomass. Technically, up to 90 % of fossil-based plastics could be replaced with plant-based alternatives, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (towards the 1.5°C goal), and protect our natural soils and waters. As of today, however, only 1% of all plastics are made from biomass worldwide. One major reason for this discrepancy is the cheap price of oil, which obviously does not include the price of harming our planet. Another major reason is a lack of understanding for biopolymer products that is necessary to accelerate their economies of scale. To promote this understanding and match the right buyer with the right seller of biopolymers, we develop Circuteria, a smart and sustainable online platform that efficiently connects and advises all stakeholders along a circular bioeconomy to produce, use, and recycle sustainable materials and products.
