COMMON GROUND IOWA

Common Ground Iowa (CGI) is a member-driven, registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the national Common Ground Alliance (CGA) Best Practices for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, construction, and protection of underground facilities throughout Iowa. As a regional partner of the CGA, CGI fosters collaboration among utilities, excavators, and other stakeholders to prevent damage to vital underground infrastructure – including water, sewer, electrical, and telecommunications lines. Through education, shared responsibility, and the implementation of industry-leading best practices, CGI helps minimize risks and ensure the long-term integrity of Iowa’s underground utilities, contributing to a safer and more resilient community. We support a proactive approach to damage prevention, reducing the likelihood of costly repairs and disruptions.
