The Compensation Scheme of Last Resort (CSLR) exists to help victims of financial misconduct who would otherwise have struggled to receive any compensation. We provide an important back-stop that ensures that people who have been the victims of misconduct and lost out through no fault of their own can be compensated when the financial firm is unable to pay. Thousands of Australians who lose large sums of money - often entire life savings – will now have access to a scheme that can provide up to $150,000 compensation. The CSLR operates as a fully independent body and is an industry-funded scheme enacted through legislation. It provides compensation to eligible people whilst also promoting stronger standards and transparency within the financial system.
