Devonshire Collective CIC

Devonshire Collective CIC is a nonprofit cultural and community organisation based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, operating a network of artist-led studios, galleries, and makerspaces across the Devonshire West ward. Founded in 2016, the organisation runs VOLT, a contemporary art gallery that commissions solo exhibitions by emerging and established artists from East Sussex and beyond, alongside DC Learn—a free learning and engagement programme offering art courses, workshops, and community events for families, young people, and local residents. The organisation centres artistic practice and process-led approaches, combining traditional gallery exhibitions with socially engaged research methods, community co-creation, and hands-on making spaces.

Devonshire Collective provides free access to gallery programming, art education courses (ranging from after-school clubs for primary school children to home education art courses and LGBTQ+ photography workshops), and event spaces for creative practitioners. With a staff of 6, the organisation is supported by trusts including the Chalk Cliff Trust and Duke of Devonshire's Charitable Trust, and operates studio and workshop facilities at 67–69 Seaside Road. The collective serves as both a cultural venue and a community hub, facilitating artist residencies, youth engagement, and neighbourhood-focused creative projects while maintaining free public access to exhibitions and learning opportunities.
