Digifield, an EU funded start-up, facilitates the access to quality fruit and vegetable by connecting farmers directly to their potential markets and, by doing so, solving structural issues of the food farming industry. In fact, farmers continue to be disconnected from end-markets and rely on middlemen who are driven by short-term opportunistic behaviours. Furthermore, the fragility of the system is a fertile environment for criminal organisations "getting to our food"​ ​(Financial Times, 8th of November 2018). These issues lead to huge costs for the society: inefficient supply-chains, counterfeit products and unfair trades. Digifield believes that a better world can be achieved by creating a digital sales channel for farmers to reach directly targeted markets.
