Duke Sports Analytics Club

Duke Sports Analytics Club is a Durham, North Carolina-based IT Services and IT Consulting company dedicated to fostering a community for sports analytics enthusiasts at Duke University. We provide a platform for members to engage in meaningful analytics projects, publish insightful research, and collaborate with Duke Athletics. Through team-based workflow systems, members join project teams that relate to their sports interests and create projects through multiple mediums like traditional article write ups, presentational slide decks, or interactive web applications. Duke Sports Analytics Club hosts expert guest speakers from across the industry, facilitates networking opportunities, leads workshops, and participates in conferences to prepare students for a successful career in the sports industry.

Our mission is to foster a community in which anyone can get involved and apply their interest in sports analytics in any capacity possible. We will be having general board meetings at least once per month, which will cover important updates and announcements on club activities, have a member present a project that they've been working on, and teach technical skills to complete projects. We also bring in guest speakers on a monthly basis who work in the industry. Past examples have been the Director of Duke MBB Scouting + Analytics, CEO of Big League Advance, Analysts from the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros.

We partner with many Duke Athletics Division I teams, allowing for dedicated members who are interested in working with the athletic department to help our school. Furthermore, we provide opportunities for members to participate in sports analytics competitions, attend conferences, and conduct research in the field. We aim to build a pipeline into sports analytics internships at various companies and gain recognition across the country, and extend our alumni network so students can get mentorship and recruitment advice from them.
