EquineChain

The EquineChain was created to foster a more transparent horse-trading marketplace on the Ethereum blockchain. Our product(s) will make possible quick and reliable equine-asset deeding; validating asset genealogy; asset tracking and has the potential to greatly assist in tracing medical histories; documenting breeders and trainers; auditing asset valuations; verifying previous ownership; and documenting notable athletic achievements. Using the EquineChain dapp a horse is minted as an NFT smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain that will be assigned to the equine-asset for the entirety of its lifecycle. The information contained within the NFT will be descriptive in nature and confirms the origins and key characteristics of the equine asset. This information can be stored in a digital wallet like MetaMask allowing for quick and easy visual and qualitative ownership verification. The information is all publicly verifiable on blockchain explorers like Etherscan. The NFT smart contract will serve as a deed that cannot be changed after minting; however, events and updates like career achievements, medical procedures, cross border movements, etc. can be added against the NFT using oracles via the registry. These oracles making updates against the NFT will ideally come from fully vetted/trusted sources, the information oracles provide is referred to as “off chain” and transmitted via APIs. Information transmitted from an oracle cannot be altered once assigned and will be passed along whenever an NFT exchange is made.
