Espiga I+D Alimentaria SLU (ESPIGA I+D) is a Navarre-based company founded with a clear commitment to innovation in the agri-food sector, with a particular focus on the world of cereals. Launched in June 2025, it is a strategic initiative promoted by Caja Rural de Navarra. Its headquarters and main activity are located in Sarriguren, near Pamplona (Navarre), an area that attracts technological and business talent linked to food and sustainability. Since its inception, Espiga I+D has been conceived as a technological innovation centre with a very specific focus: to improve the whole cereal processing process, from the initial stages (milling) to its use in different end applications (bakery, pastries, biscuits, vegetable drinks, etc.). It has unique facilities that allow it to develop innovations from a laboratory scale to a semi-industrial scale. This includes the availability of a Bühler technology training mill with a capacity of 14.4 tonnes of milling per day, the third of its kind in the EU, as well as industrial bakery lines. In short, Espiga I+D represents a firm commitment to innovation applied to cereals, with a solid structure, a clear mission and a vision for the future that combines science, business and territory.
