Essex County Family Justice Center

Essex County Family Justice Center is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the safety and autonomy of domestic violence victims and their children in Essex County, New Jersey.

Established in 2010 in response to alarming rates of domestic violence homicides, ECFJC provides comprehensive, trauma-informed services in a single, accessible location. We reduce the fragmentation of conventional domestic violence services by co-locating professionals from government and non-governmental agencies – including social services, civil legal, law enforcement, and other providers – on site.

ECFJC’s core mission is to address the complex needs of marginalized survivors, offering tailored support through risk assessment, safety planning, legal assistance, and connection to vital resources. We serve approximately 11,300 victims annually, demonstrating our commitment to providing compassionate and effective care.

Our dedicated team of bilingual staff and trustees, reflective of the demographics of Essex County, ensures culturally specific support for all survivors. We are committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where victims can rebuild their lives and achieve lasting independence.
