First In Families of North Carolina (FIFNC)

First In Families of North Carolina is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families with disabilities and their loved ones across all 100 counties of North Carolina.

For over 30 years, FIFNC has been a vital resource, connecting people with the practical help, community connections, and lifetime support they need to thrive. We operate through 14 regional chapters, each led by local families and self-advocates, ensuring a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within their communities.

Our core programs, including Lifetime Connections and the Partners in Care Initiative, offer a comprehensive range of services – from personal networks and estate planning to technical assistance and access to essential resources. We believe in empowering individuals to believe in their dreams, achieve their goals, connect with their communities, and give back, fostering a truly inclusive and supportive environment for all.
