Overview
The Florida Indian Heritage Association, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization preserving and celebrating the rich traditions, songs, and dances of Native American tribes throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States. Established in 1965, and rooted in the legacy of Explorer Scout Post 476 and the Crow Owners Society of South Florida, FIHA hosts two annual, multi-day powwows – the Thunder on the Beach Powwow in Vero Beach and the FIHA March Anniversary Powwow in Fort Pierce. These events bring together leaders and representatives from tribes including Seminole, Miccosukee, Lakota Sioux, Kiowa, Cherokee, Ponca, and others, offering a vibrant cultural experience for participants and spectators alike. Visitors can enjoy intertribal dancing, crafts competitions, educational seminars, authentic Native American cuisine, and a diverse marketplace of traditional goods. As the longest-running inter-tribal powwow in Florida, FIHA continues to foster cultural understanding and appreciation, providing a vital platform for Native American communities and a cherished family-friendly event for the wider community.
