Fund for sustainable urban development (FSUD) JSC

FSUD is an urban development fund for Sofia, created under JESSICA initiative in Bulgaria. FSUD funds projects that have a significant socio-economic effect over the territory of the Capital of Bulgaria. The Fund provides low-interest loans to projects which have a rate of return below the market minimum, but which are of great social importance and value. The total financial resource of the Fund is almost BGN 50 million – half of which provided by OP “Regional Development” 2007-2013. FSUD has invested the total amount by the end of 2016 into thirteen sustainable urban projects, among which are the renovation of the Woman's Market, the creation of Vazrajdane park and the building of a sports complex in Zone B5. Since 2016, FSUD is able to reinvest the funds, received as repayments under the active project funding agreements, into new sustainable urban projects. Reinvesting will be possible until 2025 and FSUDS will gradually be able to disburse a total of BGN 30 million. The Fund is gathering new project ideas that must be implemented within the main three Areas of impact of IPURD – Sofia (C1, O1 and И1), in order to invest the recycled funds.
