The 3-D reconstruction of the reinforcing bars in the examined sections is obtained from the subsequent analysis of the data recorded in these gammagraphies. Because gamma-rays provide actual images of the interior of the irradiated volume, other characteristics can also be investigated. Of particular importance and current interest is the detection of corrosion in steel elements, such as reinforcing bars, strands and cables and grout voids in post-tensioning ducts. The "picture" quality of a gammagraphy makes this technique superior to any other current NDT method for addressing these issues. RCT has multiple applications.
