Founded in 1992 as Oasis Mobile Phones in Damian Cole's spare bedroom, the company quickly expanded. With support from Caerphilly Borough Council, a small industrial unit in Blackwood was secured in 1996. Oasis Communication Services Ltd became a limited company in April 1997, and in June of the same year, the first retail store opened on Blackwood High Street, inaugurated by Welsh rugby star Neil Jenkins. The company garnered various accolades, winning the Gwent TEC business award for marketing in 1998, ranking as the 10th fastest-growing company in Wales in 1999, and becoming the 2nd fastest-growing company in Wales in the following year, out of 51,000 businesses. In 2001, a significant shift occurred with the rebranding of Oasis Mobile Phones to Get Connected, marking a strategic move to strengthen the company's identity. The year 2005 saw another milestone as the Connections Centres chain of seven retail stores, along with their corporate team, merged with Get Connected through acquisition. Currently, Get Connected boasts a chain of retail stores spanning Wales and England. The company operates a call center in Blackwood and maintains a corporate sales team at its Head Office in Abergavenny. This setup underscores its position as the largest privately owned mobile phone retailer in the UK, with a wealth of experience exceeding 30 years in connecting people through major telecommunications service providers. As part of its ongoing success, the company is set to open a new store in Market Drayton, Shropshire, in December 2023. This expansion marks the beginning of a fourth decade of growth and accomplishment for Get Connected.
