At HEAL Clinical Education Network, we strive to differentiate ourselves from other higher education services. For starters, our physicians go through real patient cases. While other services have doctors talk about their life as a physician over Zoom which is fine, it can get repetitive leaving little potential for growth. Each session at HEAL involves a ReelDx case so you can learn the real clinical skills of interpreting vital signs, making a diagnosis, and communicating with a patient. Another reason why HEAL is the right choice for pre-health students is that it has proven to be better than traditional shadowing. Most in-person shadowing is limited: the doctor doesn’t have time to explain things to you, you only see one specialty at a time, and you have to commute to the hospital, not to mention pay for parking or whatever else. HEAL offers interactive, small-group shadowing led by physician preceptors who will not only explain things to you but help you learn and grow. And the best part is that it is available to everyone! Plenty of opportunities for traditional, in-person shadowing is usually reserved for those with connections through friends or family, or who happen to go to an elite university, not giving a fair opportunity to everyone with a passion for medicine.
