HERO4PFAS
Overview
Hydrated Electrons from iRradiated metal-free semicOnductors for Per- and poly-FluoroAlkyl Substances degradation in water (HERO4PFAS), focuses on the development and investigation of photocatalysts able to photo-produce hydrated electrons (eaq-) under ultraviolet (UV) light to degrade per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water. The project, aims to obtain a heterogeneous UV based Advanced Reduction Process (ARP) to avoid the strict operational conditions needed for state-of-the-art homogeneous UV-ARPs. Knowledge generated in HERO4PFAS will thus be useful not only in the field of innovative water treatment approaches, but also to other reductive processes, such as CO2 reduction.
