Institute of Digital Engineering (IDE)

Institute of Digital Engineering (IDE) is a UK-based nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating UK engineering capability through digital innovation. We operate as a ‘virtual’ Institute, facilitating and activating a national portfolio of industry-relevant projects focused on developing digital solutions to address critical UK competitive inhibitors, particularly within the automotive sector.

Funded by the Department for Business, Environment & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and part of the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) Digital Engineering Spoke and Loughborough University, IDE leverages advanced digital technologies – including Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and IoT – to enable a more efficient and adaptable engineering process. Our mission is to establish the UK as a global leader in digital engineering, driving the development of next-generation mobility products and services while meeting evolving customer expectations.
