Since 1939, JT Russell & Sons, has grown from working in the farming industry to a major heavy highway and civil construction company. Our personnel and equipment have evolved with the major advancements in the construction industry to include GPS assisted grading and asphalt paving, drone assisted 3D mapping, and real time tracking of inventories and deliveries. Our crews install hundreds of miles of quality asphalt per year, with material that is produced at our very own facilities, where we can better manage supply. Over the past 20 years, we have completed numerous projects for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) including the majority of widening highway 24/27 from Charlotte to Albemarle, the Troy (Montgomery County) By-pass, and several roundabouts in Stanly and Union Counties. In 1966 JTR made a move to become practical and environmentally friendly. We recycle previously used materials such as asphalt, concrete, rock and brick. We provide our customers with numerous recycled products such as gravel rock, rip rap, brick chips, crushed concrete, screenings and topsoil. For larger projects JTR has the capability of providing on-site recycling, which makes cost more effective for the market. With a modest start of a few vehicles over 50 years ago we now have Over 65 trucks that can haul aggregates as well as liquid asphalt. We believe in quality vehicles, quality service, and quality employees. We currently have 5 hot mix asphalt plants. At each of our locations we are able to produce base, intermediate, or surface. JTR mixes are designed for NCDOT projects, airport projects, and various commercial and residential applications. We supply NCDOT qualified mixes from all of our HMA plants located in Conover, Charlotte, and New London, each with full Quality Control (QC) labs on site.
