L'Arche North Carolina

L’Arche North Carolina is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering inclusive communities for people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We operate on the L’Arche model, which emphasizes the dignity of every human being and the transformative power of relationships. Our core mission is to create spaces where individuals with and without disabilities can live, work, pray, and play together, building genuine friendships and mutual respect.

L’Arche North Carolina is currently focused on expanding its reach through the Campaign for Friendship House, aiming to purchase the Friendship Houses in Durham’s North Street neighborhood and double its capacity to welcome core members into shared life. We believe that by creating these inclusive environments, we can challenge societal perceptions and promote a more compassionate and equitable world.

Our work is rooted in narrative – sharing stories of life-changing relationships and demonstrating the profound impact of belonging. We welcome volunteers, donors, and community partners to join us in our mission to build a more inclusive future.
