Network of Black Male Nurse Leaders

Network of Black Male Nurse Leaders is a national movement based in Durham, North Carolina, dedicated to empowering Black male nurses and fostering diversity and leadership within healthcare. We provide a robust support system, mentorship opportunities, and advocate for professional growth, aiming to inspire and nurture future generations of nursing leaders who will champion quality care for all communities.

Our mission is to close the gap in representation and opportunity for Black men in nursing. We achieve this through a variety of programs, including our Formal Mentorship Scheme, which connects emerging nurses with experienced leaders, and our Brother-to-Brother Distinguished Speaker Series, a monthly dialogue focused on leadership, equity, and professional growth.

Founded in 2023, NBMNL has already impacted over 31 Board positions held across national organizations, guided 65 mentees, and produced 152 publications and 850+ presentations. We are a nonprofit organization with 3 staff members, committed to building a thriving community of visionaries—mentors, educators, clinicians, and advocates. We strive to create intentional spaces where leadership, mentorship, and brotherhood thrive, amplifying voices and equipping Black male nurses to lead with excellence in every healthcare setting.
