North Carolina Serious Illness Coalition

North Carolina Serious Illness Coalition is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization based in Virtual Coalition, North Carolina, dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with serious illness and their caregivers.

We work to create a culture of support for people facing serious illness, their families, and their communities, building upon the work of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) Task Force on Serious Illness Care.

Through collaborative partnerships and advocacy, the Coalition advances the recommendations outlined in its final report, focusing on person-centered quality of life, access, and equity across the lifespan. Our mission is to engage a broad range of stakeholders to accelerate solutions for serious illness care.

The Coalition’s dedicated members bring diverse perspectives and skills to our working groups – Clinical Practice & Advance Care Planning, Caregiver & Patient Engagement, and Communications, Advocacy and Education – ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing the complex needs of those affected by serious illness.
