One Starfish Foundation

One Starfish Foundation is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based nonprofit dedicated to providing consistent, human-centered support for individuals navigating homelessness and crisis. We believe that meaningful progress begins with trust, continuity, and practical assistance. Our work centers on three core principles: Connect – building trusted relationships through consistent presence and active listening; Stabilize – removing immediate barriers to progress, including transportation, appointment support, and crisis response; and Navigate – guiding individuals through complex systems like housing, healthcare, and employment logistics.

Founded on the principle of Matthew 25:40 – ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you did for Me’ – One Starfish Foundation focuses on serving those often overlooked. We address critical needs within the Grand Rapids community through crisis intervention, providing urgent support to 207 individuals in the past year, offering 230 transports, and facilitating the placement of 52 individuals into permanent housing through strategic partnerships with nine local organizations. We are a passionate team united by a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges, recognizing that even small acts of kindness can have a profound ripple effect.
