Established in 2015, Orchard Community Energy develops local community owned renewable energy, low carbon, and energy efficiency projects in Swale and Medway. We offer trustworthy and approachable services that facilitate carbon reductions whilst helping the local community. We help to reduce the impact of climate change and increase energy security in the South East and UK. As a community business, our profits go to support the local community. At Orchard Community Energy, we offer rooftop solar for commercial and community buildings for those seeking to benefit from predictable energy prices with no capital investment required. For businesses, working with us can also help to deliver corporate responsibility aims at no additional cost. The benefits are demonstrated by our 158kW rooftop solar array at the COOK Classics Kitchen, set to provide power to freeze COOK award-winning meals for the next eighteen years and fund local good causes at the same time. Our portfolio also includes a solar farm at Orchard Farm near Sittingbourne consisting of 20,000 panels. With a capacity of 5MW, this is enough to match the annual electricity demand of about 1,400 homes (2019 figs). At Orchard Farm alone, we save about 1,000 tons of carbon per annum.
