Overview
Perennis is a community engagement project that advocates for sustainability in the minority communities of London. We want to change the way our communities consume food and manage waste.
We follow 'perennial environmentalism', which engages interfaith communities. As most faith-based systems believe, nature is sacred. We believe that this worldview can act in the aid of environmentalism, and that we can achieve sustainability by resuscitating traditional knowledge from our cultures.
We focus on the seemingly small everyday choices that can cause a significant positive impact for our city to become more circular and sustainable.
Perennis organises events and workshops which focus on how to consume locally produced and seasonal food, and on how to manage household waste according to the principles of perennial environmentalism.
It is important for us to make sustainable food choices accessible to all households of different backgrounds. Sustainability needs to be correlated with accessibility, affordability and cultural values. For it to be sustainable, it needs to be the simplest choice.
Perennis is a female and BAME-led community interest company (CIC).
