Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre

Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC) is a pioneering developer of tidal stream energy generation projects, located in Blackfriars, England. We are dedicated to harnessing the predictable and inexhaustible power of the Solent region’s tides to deliver consistent, reliable, and zero-carbon energy to power homes and industries. Established in 2013, PTEC is currently focused on developing the UK’s largest consented tidal stream energy project, a 30MW facility that will contribute significantly to the island’s and the UK’s Net Zero targets. Our project’s success is underpinned by a decade of research and development, culminating in securing seabed leases, consents, and grid connection offers. PTEC’s ambition extends beyond simply generating electricity; it aims to establish the Isle of Wight as a global hub for tidal technology, attracting investment, creating green jobs, and supporting the growth of a hydrogen economy. Building on the legacy of the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), PTEC is committed to driving innovation and demonstrating the commercial viability of tidal stream energy, aligning with the Isle of Wight Council’s ‘Mission Zero’ strategy and contributing to a sustainable energy future.
