Rebound, Alternatives for Youth

Rebound, Alternatives for Youth is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth facing short-term school suspensions. We provide a crucial, restorative service to students in Durham County, focusing on strengths and resilience.

Our program offers a comprehensive approach to address the root causes of suspension, including behavioral issues and systemic challenges. We work collaboratively with Durham Public Schools and other community partners to create a neutral and supportive environment for youth and their families.

Rebound’s unique model combines mental health counseling, socio-emotional skill development, academic advocacy, and essential resources like food and supervision. Founded in 2013 and initially stemming from Reality Ministries, Rebound has become the sole organization in Durham specifically serving high school students during out-of-school suspensions, offering a vital alternative to traditional institutionalized settings. We are committed to fostering positive outcomes and helping youth reconnect with their schools, communities, and futures.
