Responsible Contracting Project

Responsible Contracting Project is a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization dedicated to improving human rights in global supply chains.

RCP’s mission is to drive better outcomes for people and the planet through better, more Responsible Contracts. Responsible Contracts commit both parties—buyers and suppliers—to each do their part to uphold human rights and environmental standards and work together to address problems that arise.

RCP promotes contracts as a key tool for upholding human rights and environmental standards through a shared-responsibility approach—where contracts commit both buyers (e.g., brands and retailers) and suppliers (e.g., farms and factories) to fulfill their individual responsibilities and cooperate to prevent and address harms. The organization collaborates with companies, investors, and public and private standard-setters to integrate the core principles of Responsible Contracting and achieve closer alignment with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights ( UNGPs ) , the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises , and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct .
