The Robert E. Reed Gastrointestinal Oncology Research Foundation, a Birmingham, Alabama-based non-profit, is dedicated to advancing research and providing patient care for gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic, liver, esophageal, and colorectal cancers. Established in 2002 in response to the founder’s personal battle with pancreatic cancer, the Foundation’s mission is to ‘Finish the Fight’ against these devastating diseases. Through impactful fundraising events like the annual ‘Finish the Fight’ Iron Bowl Party, and a dedicated Junior Board of young professionals, the Reed Foundation provides crucial financial support to researchers and patients. We partner with the UAB Department of Surgery and international scholars to accelerate breakthroughs and improve outcomes. Our commitment extends beyond research to offering support and awareness to individuals and families affected by GI cancers, solidifying our role as a vital resource within the Birmingham community and beyond.
