Sasa Mine, North Macedonia

The Sasa mine is wholly owned by Central Asia Metals (CAML), based in London. CAML produces base metals, essential for modern living in a safe and sustainable environment for all its stakeholders. The Company is a zinc and lead producer at the Sasa mine in North Macedonia, and has an additional copper producing operation at Kounrad, Kazakhstan. The Sasa mine is an underground lead and zinc mine that produces approximately 820,000 tonnes of ore each year and has a life to at least 2037. The mine is located in north-eastern North Macedonia, approximately 150km east of the capital city, Skopje, 10km north of local town, Makedonska Kamenica and employs around 700 people locally. Sasa is currently implementing a Cut and Fill Project that will ensure maximum extraction of Sasa’s mineral resources and incorporate a more environmentally friendly solution to tailings storage and a safer operation.
