Schools for Sierra Leone

Schools for Sierra Leone is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality Christian education to underserved communities in Sierra Leone, Africa. Established in 2012, we address the devastating impact of the civil war on the country’s educational system, where 1,270 schools were destroyed and literacy rates fell to just 52%. Our mission is to equip students with the tools and support they need to achieve their full potential, fostering leadership and driving positive change within their communities and the nation. We achieve this through the construction of modern schools, the recruitment and training of qualified teachers, and the provision of essential resources like computer centers, science labs, and libraries. With a commitment to transparency and accountability, 100% of donations directly support our programs, ensuring that every investment builds schools and pays for teachers. We operate two key locations: the Celebration Cinema/Celebration Education Fund headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the Kabala Christian School in Kabala, Sierra Leone, where over 800 children receive a superior education, consistently achieving 100% literacy and graduation rates. We believe in building a strong network of support for our students, mirroring the importance of the networks that shaped our own lives. Through patient, impactful philanthropy, we are creating a brighter future for Sierra Leone’s youth.
