Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response (STAR)

Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response (STAR) is a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual trauma and building a safer community. We provide comprehensive services, including counseling, legal assistance, and advocacy, to youth and adult survivors across Louisiana. Our work focuses on reducing the impact of trauma, improving responses to sexual violence, and driving social change. STAR’s history began in 1975 as the Stop Rape Crisis Center, and has since expanded to serve survivors in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Alexandria, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to addressing this critical issue. We are proud to be recognized for our innovative legal program and dedicated service to the community.

STAR’s mission is to support survivors of sexual trauma, improve systems response, and create social change to end sexual violence.
