Sinopec Tech Houston was founded and registered in the United States in September of 2013. The Sinopec name comes from a globally recognized Energy Company headquartered in Beijing, China. Sinopec is the largest oil and petrochemical product supplier and the second largest oil and gas producer in China. Sinopec is the largest refining company and the second largest chemical company in the world. Sinopec ranked 3rd on Fortune's Global 500 List in 2017 and has more than 100 subsidiaries and branches including wholly-owned, equity-holding and equity-sharing companies, engaging in oil and gas exploration and production, refining, chemicals, marketing, R&D and foreign trade. Together we employ over 1,000,000 employees globally. Sinopec Tech Houston is the first research center established outside of China. Our quest for improvement and limitless innovation is the foundation for our stability and advancement. As such, Sinopec Tech Houston's current focus is to innovate in three areas of research – Exploration & Production (E&P), Petroleum Engineering, and Petrochemicals. As we continue to grow, Sinopec Tech Houston plans to spread our innovation to other areas of energy and petrochemical research and development.
