Society of St. Andrew

The Society of St. Andrew is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to combating hunger and reducing food waste through gleaning – the practice of harvesting surplus crops from farms and gardens. Based in Big Island, Virginia, we unite volunteers, farmers, and agencies to redistribute fresh produce to those in need across the United States. With a history dating back to 1979, SoSA operates through a network of regional offices, providing vital nourishment to communities facing food insecurity. We are committed to fostering caring communities by sharing the bounty of our fields and reducing the environmental impact of discarded food. Our work directly supports food banks, pantries, and other organizations serving vulnerable populations, embodying a faith-based approach to addressing a critical societal challenge.
