STREMUM - Structural Engineering Master

Bridges, dams, ports, tunnels, skyscrapers and houses are examples of structures that support the human activity and contribute to the society as we know it These are often subjected to extreme events, such as earthquakes, storms, explosions and fire, the structural engineer uses a range of methods to analyse and design structures with quantifiable reliability over their design life. The Structural Engineering Master programme at University of Minho (STREMUM) meets the current challenges of modern societies by specializing in different Structural Engineering domains which are nowadays of great relevance, both for the industry and for the societies. The programme combines a solid common core of fundamental and general courses with applied courses and research related to the specialization track selected, as well as hands-on courses and field studies. In addition, because being effective on communicating and on interrelating with colleagues and team mates is also required on a modern engineer, the programme also includes training on soft skills.
