Support The Enlisted Project (STEP) is a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to providing financial wellness counseling, education, and support to service members, Veterans, and their families, combating food insecurity, homelessness, mental health challenges, and suicide. Established in 2005, STEP offers a comprehensive program designed to help military households break free from survival mode and build a path to long-term financial stability. We provide personalized financial counseling, emergency support, and educational resources, empowering individuals to regain control of their finances and transform their lives. With a dedicated team of professionals and a growing network of partners, STEP is committed to preventing homelessness, protecting mental health, and keeping families together. Our mission is to stop the spiral of financial stress and provide a turning point, not a breaking point, for those who have served our country. STEP’s impact is measured by the 90% of families who stay on track for the long haul, and the 100+ families a month changing their lives through our programs. We are a 4-star rated charity on Charity Navigator, with 9.5 million dollars distributed in emergency funds to date.
