Overview
The Baskerville Institute is a Salt Lake City, Utah-based non-profit organization dedicated to fostering people-to-people diplomacy through empathetic engagement between individuals in the United States, Iran, and Central Asia. Grounded in the principles of Diplomacy of the Heart—a people-centered approach emphasizing empathy, mutual respect, and authentic human connection—the Institute promotes trust through dialogue, respect for the dignity of difference, and meaningful cross-cultural exchange. Building on a legacy dating back to 1912, when Utah State University President John A.
Widtsoe and Iran’s Consul General Mirza Ali Gholi Khan forged a friendship rooted in shared values, the Institute now supports educational diplomacy through academic conferences and collaborative partnerships. We aim to build a global network of partners to co-sponsor impactful conferences and research projects, integrating Sustainable Development Goals into our programming to empower youth as ethical agents of change. Through research, education, and dialogue, The Baskerville Institute fosters deeper understanding and cooperation across global divides, promoting a world rooted in empathy and respect for all.
