The Carrack

The Carrack is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community and supporting visual artists. Since opening in 2011, The Carrack has provided a zero-commission space for over 1,000 artists to exhibit their work and host a diverse range of performances and events.

We champion inclusivity and experimentation within the arts, actively supporting underrepresented creators – including artists of color, queer and trans artists, and those producing temporal or site-specific work.

The Carrack operates entirely through grassroots donations and volunteer support, empowering artists to retain 100% of their sales and maintain complete creative control. We are committed to building an accessible and collaborative arts ecosystem, sparking political change and strengthening communities through the power of art.
