Overview
The Edible Cities Network is a growing group of individuals and organisations, working together to make cities around the world greener, healthier and more socially and environmentally resilient through nature-based urban food system innovation.
Our project explores and fosters all forms of sustainable urban food production, distribution and use – for example, community gardens and urban farms, beekeeping and sheep farming, green facades and high-tech indoor farming, community cooking and dining events and the use of locally-grown food in restaurants and canteens.
These activities result improve life in cities by having a positive impact on climate and biodiversity, enhancing social cohesion, supporting the local green organisations and businesses, and protecting resources by using circular economy approaches.
EdiCitNet (The Edible Cities Network) is a project funded by the European Commission and running from September 2018 to August 2023 (Grant Agreement No. 776665).
