The Lands Council

The Lands Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Inland Northwest forests, water, and wildlife. Based in Spokane, Washington, we work collaboratively to protect vital ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for our region. We champion environmental education, advocate for responsible public land management, and restore watersheds, from headwaters to urban users. Our commitment extends to safeguarding endangered species and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Forests, Water, and Wildlife are at the heart of our mission.

The Lands Council’s work is rooted in a deep respect for the traditional lands of the Upper Columbia tribes, recognizing their enduring connection to these natural resources. We strive to uphold their treaty rights and honor their stewardship legacy. We are dedicated to creating a resilient community prepared for the challenges of a changing climate.

Through a range of programs, including SnowSchool, SpoCanopy, and CoolCanopy, we are actively restoring and revitalizing our region’s environment. We also offer opportunities for community engagement, volunteerism, and partnership, fostering a collective commitment to environmental protection. Environmental Education and Watershed Restoration are key components of our strategy.
