The Pret Foundation

The Pret Foundation is a UK-based nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and tackling homelessness through food donation and employment support programmes. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in London, the Foundation operates as the charitable arm of Pret A Manger, leveraging the food and hospitality sector to create tangible impact on food insecurity and homelessness. The organization pursues its mission through three core initiatives: daily donation of unsold freshly made food to people in need, the Community Grants Fund that supports grassroots charities in local communities addressing food insecurity, and the Rising Stars Programme, which provides paid work placements and training to approximately 100 individuals annually who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

By combining food waste reduction, community support, and employment pathways, The Pret Foundation helps people break the cycle of homelessness and unlock their potential to thrive. The organization operates with a lean team of 3 staff members and maintains a strong commitment to doing the right thing by redistributing quality food to vulnerable populations whilst supporting local charitable organizations and providing meaningful employment opportunities that extend beyond Pret itself.
